I just noticed that the pictures from the Award for the Crazy Shoe 2012 has been put up online!
More pictures can be found here. Photography by Thomas Preiss.
Duck shoes lasted, waiting for soling. Cemented shoes really aren’t my favorites to make. The leather used in these is PU-split, to give a plastic effect, and it was hell to work with. They look cool, but I’m not doing this again. :)
*Edit on April 27th: Just to clarify, I totally would do it again :) When you make a pair of shoes that prove difficult to make, you might feel at that moment that you’ll never ever do THAT again. And there you are again, the next week, whistling and making your next project :). I live for challenges, anyway.
…I will also be on the local Hämeenlinna radio at about 13.15 today, cool! :)
This is Thora, the first pair from my collection Good Omens. It’s the first pair to be completely finished, so I had to celebrate by blogging about it :) The boots are made of finnish vegetable tanned leather in a Veldtschoen construction, the soles are rubber.
I also included a little teaser of the next model…In a few weeks or so I’ll have pictures of the entire collection, I just have to make it first!
The collection will be presented at our fashion show W012, on 22nd of May at Vanha Ylioppilastalo, Helsinki. More information about the event: www.hamk.fi/w012.
